An hour in Solvang, CA
Until the last minute, we were undecided on taking the bus to San Francisco or renting a car. It would be less of a hassle and cheaper if we opted for the bus but it would definitely be an adventure if we drove. We chose the latter and after two hours of driving, our GPS unit directed us off the freeway and into the middle of f***ing nowhere. The view was nice though much like the dry hills of Zambales during the summer.
Aside from having a famous wedding photographer living in Solvang, we didn’t have a clue what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised that it’s a well-preserved Danish-American town complete with authentic architecture. Mimi had a field day shooting!

So surreal to think that these are buildings in California! Parang Madurodam ng Holland… Talaga bang life-size itong mga ito? No kidding?

I have lived in this wonderful community for 19 years after living in Sf and LA. Prior to that I was born and raised in the Philippines.
Solvang cares about it’s tourist and people who live here. I rarely see Filipinos but when I do I can see they enjoy our town espicially for merienda at the bakeries. Thanks for the wonderful photos outlining our village. We have wineries close by too, nice farms that raise ostriches, miniature horses, other horse breeds, lavender, fruits and more. We have wonderful philantropic or charitable people that care so much about the elderly, the disabled or unfortunate ones.
I still miss the Philippines and visit often. I am thankful for all of you that support our community.
